Let
me talk about just how Worthy God is for just a moment here! A lot of
these thoughts were shared with me by a friend this evening and they
have given me so much healing!
HE
IS WORTHY!!!
"He
is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot
lose." ~ Jim Elliot
A
lot of us have heard this quote, but have you ever thought of the
following?
Think
about some things in this life that you may have lost, maybe it's a
relationship, maybe it's sexual purity due to abuse, maybe it's that
Date Night you really felt that you needed; maybe it's emotional,
maybe it's a loved one. Whatever it may be, just think about it for a
minute if you can.
Now
look at the above quote again; ^ notice this part: "He is no
fool who gives what he cannot keep..."
Are
you willing to give up that loss? It was something you could not
keep; it was something temporal in this life and that's an
encouragement because it wasn't something eternal that you lost, but
something that would not last forever. So if you are willing to make
that sacrifice for God, you are not a fool! I'm not talking about
grieving here for whenever you lose something you are very much
allowed to grieve; I am talking about the idols that we all want to
hold on to. I'm talking about things that God has taken from you and
you want to keep holding on to them and because of that it is hurting
you relationship with Him. Are you willing to answer God's call in
giving up things that He is asking You to give up?
This
may sound sad, and annoying, but just think of it! You have so much
more to gain in giving up this temporal thing. And it's things that
you will never be able to lose; these are eternal things. "...to
gain that which he cannot lose."
Most
of the time when we lose something in this life we think of it as a
negative thing and it may cause us to blame God. When God does good
things for us we often want to praise Him and give Him a whole lot of
credit and tell the world about. But why don't we want to do that
when something "bad" happens to us? When it hurts? When we
just hate it?! It is because we are looking at the loss in a very
wrong perspective.
God
is Worthy! Do you believe that? Do you really believe that God is
WORTHY?! God is Valuable! Do you believe that?! Is there anything in
your life right now that you would consider more valuable than God?
If so, that thing/person is your idol and you are in sin.
Some
truths about God and Things:
1.
God is more valuable than anything I could ever lose in this life.
2.
God's love is more valuable than anyone's love.
3.
God is worthy enough for me to give up or lose anything for.
4.
God deserves more glory and worthy than anything.
There
are some things that I have lost in my life. And I often have a
tendency to blame Him for taking those things away. But today I found
a new perspective. I ought to praise God that He found Me worthy
enough to suffer and sacrifice in that way for Him. God sees me as
chosen and worthy. And because of the things that I have suffered I
can stand before God's enemies and praise God to their face because
He is worthy. When the enemy tells me that I am not worthy; I am not
loved; I am selfish; I am not wanted; etc when he throws his darts at
me and says all kinds of hateful things, I can stand and say, "God
says I am worthy! God says I am worthy to suffer for Him! He says
'This is Lizzie’s opportunity to praise MY NAME and to see that I
AM WORTHY!'" What is the enemy going to say to that?!
God
sees me as worthy! God's love is enough! I will be willing to
sacrifice for Him because He is worthy! I will be willing to thank
Him for the suffering and losses I have had in my past because He is
worthy. My sufferings and pains give me opportunity to Praise His
Name and to see His work in my life. They give me the opportunity to
sit in His presence and cry tears of joy because He is worthy and He
has not taken away eternal treasures, but things I could not have
kept anyway. And by taking away these things He has drawn me closer
to Himself. He is worthy! I just can't express that enough!
Will
anyone else agree with me that HE IS WORTHY ENOUGH?! Will you stand
with me and say that He is worthy to sacrifice for and to live for?
